Mary Lou Williams Biography I was born in the small town of Leaksville, NC (now Eden). I studied art at Meredith College, and then graduated from UNC-G with a degree in Art. I was hired as the first Executive Director of the Rockingham County Arts Council shortly after graduating from college. When my family moved to Greensboro in the 1980's, my affiliation with art became the art gallery business. The gallery world has given me the opportunity to promote other artists as an owner, manager and art consultant and to help them sell their artwork...... It has been my very good fortune to work with a lot of talented regional artists, who have helped me with my own painting career.
In real life, I have the world's best husband and art critic, three amazing grown children, two incredibly adorable grandchildren and about three days a week you can find me working at the beautiful O'Brien Gallery in Greensboro!
A fun Connection to Winston-Salem- My son graduated from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Film, in Winston-Salem. My husband also worked in Winston for Wachovia Bank, his parents retired there and lived there for 20 years, later they lived at Salem town Retirement Community.
Mary Lou Williams is currently represented by The O’Brien Gallery in Greensboro NC.
